AISB - Next meeting (September 18, 2018)

The AISB Board of Trustees meets next on September 18, 2018 -  at 6:00pm. The Board will approve the Terms of Reference for its committees and taskforces for 2018-19 in the areas of Finance, Facilities, Planning, Enrollment and Information Management.  The Board will also approve Key Performance Indicators and a monitoring protocol to support the implementation of the school's strategic plans.

AISB Board News from the Board meeting and AGM of August 23, 2018
The Board considered updates in the status of the school since last meeting in May and prepared for the Board Retreat on September 2nd. It also laid out immediate goals for the Finance and Planing committees for the meeting of September 18.

AISB - Next meeting (August 23, 2018)

The AISB Board of Trustees meets next on August 23, 2018 -  at 6:00pm. They will review the start of year and any developments in enrollment, finances and security over the summer.  They will also plan the Board Retreat agenda for September 2nd, outlining broad goal areas for 2018-19.

AISB Board News from the special Board meeting and AGM of May 30, 2018
The Board welcomed the new trustees and executive roles were filled: Johan Andersson remains as Board Chair, Viet-Hong Pham Dinh took up the post of Vice-Chair, Boubacar SidibĂ© will remain as Treasurer and Daniel Tiveau took up the post of Secretary.  The Board also approved a Five Year Facilities Plan that will see major renovations to the school cafeterias and the construction of a covered gymnasium over the next three years. The Board reviewed enrollment projections for 2018-19 and voted to revise the hiring plan to add an overseas hired elementary school teacher. Finally, the Board looked at possible scenarios for how the elections in July-August could impact the opening of the school and developed a check in plan to keep abreast of any developments throughout the summer.  It was decided not to revise the school calendar at this time.

AISB - Next meeting (May 30, 2018)

The AISB Board of Trustees meets next on May 30, 2018 -  at 6:00pm. The Board will decide on the Five Year Facilities Plan and review what is known about the upcoming elections and how they might impact the school.

AISB Board News from the Board meeting and AGM of May 8, 2018
The Board reviewed the presentation for the AGM later that evening and looked in more detail at the results for the Spring MAP tests. At the AGM the Chair presented the Board of Trustees for 2018-19.  Six candidates came forward for the elections and as there were six positions they were appointed by acclamation. The Board Chair presented on the goals and accomplishments of the Board for 2017-18 and the Treasurer presented on the budget for 2019-20 and on the financial state of the school.  The Director presented on the growth of the school and program.  A summary of the year will be presented in the final newsletter of the year in the End of Year report.

AISB Board News from the Board meeting of April 25, 2018
The Board approved the 2018-19 budget for the 2018-19 school year.  The budget will be presented to association members at the AGM on May 8.  The Board also reviewed the school's Emergency Procedures Handbook section related to force majeure closing of the school to ensure that policies and plans were in place to respond to an unforeseen emergency that would require the temporary closure of the school.  The Board also reviewed the results of the parent survey and their own self-evaluation survey.

AISB Board News from the Board meeting of March 21, 2018
The Board reviewed the draft budget and set tuition and fees for the 2018-19 school year.  Plans were made to recruit candidates for the Board elections on May 8th.  This included the planning of an informal Board hosted information night to chat with parents about the role of the AISB Board and of individual trustees.

AISB Board News from the Board meeting of February 21, 2018
The Board approved the Five Year Financial Plan based on steady enrolment at 178 students and small annual tuition increase to account for inflation (1% per year).  The Plan ensures balanced budgets and allows room for the implementation of the elements of the school's strategic plan.  The Board also approved the revision of the CFA/$ rate down to 560.

Topics to be discussed include:
  • A review of the school's emergency drill procedures
  • Final approval of the AISB Five Year Financial Plan
  • Revising the school's CFA/$ exchange rate
  • Final reception of the auditor's report for the 2016-17 financial year
  • The parent survey for March 2018


AISB Board News from the Board meeting of January 17, 2018
The Board approved the calendar for the 2018-19 school year and this was shared with the community on the school website and by email.  The auditor's report and the proposed AISB Five Year Financial Plan were also discussed.  These are scheduled for final approval at the February meeting of the Board. The Board also reviewed the progress to date on the annual Board and Director goals for 2017-18.
